Project Description

The research project about nonprofit collaboration for the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation studies a range of examples that are particularly relevant for New Hampshire nonprofits. The project evolved through three months working with Kevin Peterson, Senior Program Officer at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, Upper Valley Region office, and discussions with the program staff of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation website also describes the project.
•The research consists of an overview of resources and trends nationwide and further study of more projects.
•Case studies describe the type of collaboration, services provided (both business services and nonprofit services), number of participants, setup requirements, ongoing management requirements/structure and savings estimated.
•The research was presented at a series of meetings for various regions of the Foundation, attended by ten to more than 60 nonprofit leaders from the region.
•The project began with an Issue Paper on Back-Office Collaboration for Nonprofits, and was expanded to include all types of collaboration.
•As part of the research process I shadowed two collaboration groups in formation in the Upper Valley: The Upper Valley Nonprofit Resource Sharing Network and the Upper Valley Arts Marketing Group.
